How much Shed-X to give your dog or cat
The short answer for dogs is one tablespoon for every 20 pounds of body weight, every day, poured over food. Small dogs work in teaspoons instead, and cats have their own chart. For the first 30 days, we double the dose so the skin gets a running start.
Below is the whole chart as it's printed on our bottles, followed by the few habits that make the spoon work better.

Weigh, don't guess
A dog you think is 50 lb can easily be 65. The scale at the vet's office or your own bathroom scale (weigh yourself holding the dog, then subtract) keeps the spoon honest.
Shake every time
The oils and vitamins settle between pours. A few seconds of shaking keeps every spoon the same.
Pour on food, not in water
Oil floats on water and gets left behind. Stir it into kibble or fold it into wet food so it's eaten with the meal.
Count the weeks
Put a note on the calendar for week three and week six. Shedding changes slowly day to day, and quickly on a calendar.
Drop back after 30 days
Once the starter month is done, go to the regular spoon for your pet's weight and keep it there.
Our dosage is for healthy dogs and cats over 12 weeks old. If your pet is on a special diet or medication, show the bottle to your vet first.
